Verification of Complex 3D-Dose Distributions in Carbon Ion Irradiation

چکیده

In radiotherapy with swift carbon ions very complex dose distributions are applied to a desired target volume. Up to now at the GSI radiotherapy project only regide target volumes in the skull of patients are treated. Extending the benefit of carbon ion radiotherapy to the whole patients body, problems of target motion as heart beat or breathing will occur. Using raster scan technique this motion urgently needs to be compensated. At the GSI an active tool for compensation of patients movement is under construction [1]. Thus, a real three dimensional verification dosimeter is needed. BANG-Gel-Dosimeters (MGS, USA) are porposed to be a tool for verification of complex dose distributions in radiotherapy with swift carbon ions.
